In a strategic move to deepen collaboration with the Organized Private Sector (OPS) and accelerate the expansion of healthcare coverage across Kano State, the Kano State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KSCHMA) today convened a high-level sensitization meeting with private sector leaders at the Agency’s Conference Hall in Kano.
The engagement forms part of KSCHMA’s sustained commitment to advancing the Kano First Agenda of His Excellency, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, through inclusive and sustainable healthcare financing that ensures quality and affordable healthcare for all residents.
The Executive Secretary of KSCHMA, Dr. Rahila Aliyu Muktar, was represented by the Director of Administration, Hajiya Amina Sani Usman, who reaffirmed the Agency’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with employers and business organizations to increase enrolment into the Kano State Contributory Healthcare Scheme, particularly among private sector employees. She emphasized that strategic partnerships with the Organized Private Sector remain critical to achieving Universal Health Coverage and improving access to quality healthcare across the state.
The meeting focused on reviewing and updating the Organized Private Sector mapping, identifying affiliated organizations, discussing practical enrolment strategies, and exploring sustainable partnerships for the effective implementation of the Kano State Contributory Healthcare Scheme.
Participants were also introduced to the Vulnerable Population Programme (VPP), with presentations on the revised Concept Note and the Expression of Interest (EOI) framework. The session highlighted opportunities for private sector participation in expanding healthcare access for vulnerable groups while fostering greater investment in healthcare financing.
Technical presentations reviewed the progress of the Organized Private Sector initiative, its operational scope and jurisdiction, and the strategic support provided by the Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) in strengthening healthcare financing and service delivery in Kano State.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to deepen public-private collaboration, broaden enrolment under the Scheme, and develop practical implementation strategies that will accelerate progress towards Universal Health Coverage in Kano State.
KSCHMA remains steadfast in fostering strategic partnerships that will ensure more residents of Kano State have access to affordable, quality, and sustainable healthcare services.
