The Kano State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KSCHMA) today hosted a high-level delegation from the Borno State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (BOSCHMA) on a strategic study tour aimed at fostering peer learning, strengthening institutional collaboration and promoting the exchange of best practices in contributory healthcare administration.
The delegation was led by the Chairperson of the BOSCHMA Governing Board, Hajiya Mairo Bunu Lawan, and accompanied by the Executive Secretary, Dr. Saleh Abba Kallah, the Special Adviser to the Governor of Borno State on Health, as well as members of the Agency’s management team.
Welcoming the delegation at the KSCHMA Headquarters in Kano, the Executive Secretary of KSCHMA, Dr. Rahila Aliyu Muktar, described the visit as a reflection of the growing partnership among state contributory healthcare agencies in advancing sustainable healthcare financing and Universal Health Coverage (UHC). She emphasized that collaboration, innovation and knowledge sharing remain critical to strengthening healthcare systems and improving access to quality, affordable healthcare services.
Dr. Rahila highlighted KSCHMA’s achievements in healthcare governance, enrolment expansion, digital transformation, provider management, quality assurance and operational efficiency, reaffirming the Agency’s commitment to supporting sister agencies through the exchange of practical experiences and innovative solutions.
In her remarks, Hajiya Mairo Bunu Lawan commended KSCHMA for its impressive institutional growth and remarkable achievements in implementing the Kano State Contributory Healthcare Scheme. She noted that the Agency has become a reference point for effective healthcare administration, adding that the study tour would strengthen the Governing Board’s strategic oversight and enrich BOSCHMA’s drive towards improved healthcare service delivery.
Also speaking, the Executive Secretary of BOSCHMA, Dr. Saleh Abba Kallah, expressed appreciation to the Executive Secretary, Management and staff of KSCHMA for the warm reception and openness in sharing their experiences. He described the visit as highly rewarding, stating that the insights gained from KSCHMA’s innovations in healthcare financing, digital systems and programme implementation would significantly support BOSCHMA’s efforts to enhance institutional performance and expand access to quality healthcare services across Borno State.
The study tour featured comprehensive technical presentations and interactive sessions during which both agencies exchanged experiences, best practices and practical strategies for strengthening contributory healthcare schemes.
The visit concluded with the presentation of souvenirs and a group photograph, reaffirming the shared commitment of KSCHMA and BOSCHMA to sustained collaboration, innovation and the collective pursuit of Universal Health Coverage for the benefit of all Nigerians.
