The Sanitos Health Development Foundation (SANDHEF) has paid an advocacy visit to the Kano State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KSCHMA) to strengthen collaboration and explore strategic areas of partnership and support aimed at expanding access to the Contributory Healthcare Scheme in Kano State.
The delegation, led by the SANDHEF State Team Lead, Mr. Zakari Saidu, was warmly received by the Executive Secretary of KSCHMA, Dr. Rahila Aliyu Muktar, who welcomed the initiative and expressed the Agency’s readiness to deepen collaboration with relevant stakeholders in advancing inclusive healthcare coverage across the state.
Discussions during the visit focused particularly on opportunities to support enrolment within the Organised Private Sector and Informal Sector, recognising the importance of bringing more workers, businesses, traders and other members of the informal economy into the Contributory Healthcare Scheme.
The engagement also explored areas where SANDHEF could complement the efforts of KSCHMA through advocacy, community mobilisation, stakeholder engagement and other interventions that would contribute to increased awareness and enrolment.
The Executive Secretary appreciated SANDHEF for the visit and its interest in supporting the Agency’s mandate, noting that strategic partnerships remain essential to expanding healthcare coverage and ensuring that more residents can access quality and affordable healthcare services.
Dr. Rahila emphasised that KSCHMA remains committed to working with development partners, civil society organisations, the private sector and other stakeholders to strengthen enrolment and improve healthcare service delivery in line with the State Government’s commitment to inclusive healthcare.
She further encouraged sustained engagement between both organisations to translate areas identified during the advocacy visit into practical interventions with measurable impact.
The visit underscores the growing importance of multi-stakeholder collaboration in strengthening the Contributory Healthcare Scheme and advancing the goal of wider healthcare coverage for residents of Kano State.
