Destiny is a path that one must follow to reach it!
After my last write-up, so many things happened both nationally and within the state, some things gave us joy while others made us sad.
One out of those things was the relieving of Dr Ab Baffa from the Secretary to the State Government of Kano State. When it happened, we all believed it was Allah’s making and time, and as Muslims we all knew that everything is destined by Him alone, even though we disagreed with the reason given by the state government, but we all believed that Dr Baffa was meant to be the SSG for that duration and nothing will change that so we took it in good faith.
The reason given was relieved based on health ground, some people were even paid to go on air to state the reason that portrayed the situation as such, that Dr Baffa was sick and he needed to be relieved so that he could attend to his health. Well, Alhamdulillahi, as we all knew Dr Baffa failed sick with a mild stroke sometimes early last year or so, which compelled him to travel to Saudia Arabia for about 2-3 months for that purpose, alhamdulillahi he got much better and returned to his duty post. I could remember during that health trip, the rumor mongers spread rumors that Baffa was sacked because he had a fight with the Governor, some said with Kwankwaso and many more rubbish talks like that. All the rumors were naturally debunked after he returned and resumed office. That became the past.
Unfortunately for those people who since that health trip didn’t want Dr Baffa to return office as SSG failed in their mission, they continued to sow different seeds of discord between His Excellency AKY and the SSG, so many interests came together and intensified their efforts to make sure that there was misunderstanding between the duo. It was during the unfolding events that it was realized even the high-ups were involved, this became apparent when at one time HE AKY led a peace accord between the SSG and his then LG Chair contestant, but just after about 30 mins of the peace accord, the party leadership announced the suspension of the SSG, this particular action exposed the desperation of those who wanted Dr Baffa out of the their way.
After that particular episode, the pressure to remove Dr Baffa from the office kept increasing especially from the high-ups since their hypocrisy was exposed, so they no longer hide. They sold so many fabricated lies and scheming to soil the good images of Dr Baffa, but all to no avail. When the desperation reached its limits to such extent it could no longer be withstand, as Allah will have it, the SSG was relieved of his appointment even though the Governor was away at that time. Alhamdulillahi, like I said Allah is never wrong in His decision and to every devoted Muslim everything that happened is Allah’s making and should be accepted in good faith. We accepted it in good faith.
The Hero before becoming the Enemy.
Let me take us back prior to the 2019 Gubernatorial election when every bigwigs of the kwankwasiyya that benefited from the system left Madugu to fight alone, that was when Dr Baffa with his populous #One2Tell10Movement came handy and gave his all for the victory of AKY and kwankwasiyya, he was tenderly embraced by the Madugu of kwankwasiyya like a gold then, he became a Hero of sought because he did not even declared for PDP then, but he worked hard for the party’s Gubernatorial candidate then. He was very conspicuous and gave his all to the end. The election was declared as inconclusive, but Dr Baffa did not relent, he worked day and night, reaching out to every person that needed to be reached. After the inconclusive elections APC was declared winner of that sham called election, the PDP went to the Election petition Tribunal and challenged that dubious victory, Dr Ab Baffa was the only visible figure standing with Kwankwaso then. The petition was fought up to the Supreme Court and at the end Gov Ganduje was declared the winner, but Dr Baffa was there with Kwankwaso to which even the PDP’s Gubernatorial collation officer was later on found to have colluded with APC in selling the election. That was 2019.
When the election was lost at the Court, Dr Baffa took a completely new project to make sure that in 2023 Engr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso appears on the presidential ballot paper no matter what it takes, because that was the lifetime dream of Madugu. He used his national and international networks of associates in making sure that the project was a success. He gathered all the resources he can lay his hands on for the project, working 24/7 traversing all the 36 states, establishing structures in all those southern states that Madugu had no presence. Putting a central structure of colleagues from across the country, and at the end the TNM (The National Movement) was formed which at last transformed into a party called the NNPP, the party that gave Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso the platform to contest the presidential election of 2023, which was a dream come true for both Kwankwaso and Dr Baffa.
Dr Baffa was the real Hero that made it happen. Before NNPP, he was called so many names by the kwankwasiyya followers that he was misleading RMK to a failure, but when the cloud was cleared he was hailed as a Hero. The NNPP gave every member of the kwankwasiyya that wishes to contest did so without much difficulty. The Hero was none other than Dr Ab Baffa.
The Kano NNPP:
The NNPP as a party put contestants of every contestable position in Kano, it became the number one opposition party in Kano displacing the PDP, with RMK as its presidential flag bearer. Dr Baffa contested for Kano North senatorial slot, but we all knew how he almost abandoned his contest for the actualisation of RMK’s presidential campaigns. He was more concerned with the RMK project than his own contest. Most of the time I represented him in his campaigns. He was called names but he never cared. They both lost the elections, he and Kwankwaso, but he didn’t relent or shy away, rather he came back with a kind of force that was not common to everyone. He took charge of the Gubernatorial campaign as if he was the contestant. He introduced some things that are aliens to the Kano politics. Things like:
1. Press conferences
2. Peaceful Protests
Many people found these somehow awkward, but they yielded the desired results, because expired INEC officers were changed, police Commissioners were changed, the intended rigging was stopped and the people mandate was protected.
He became the NNPP Gubernatorial collation agent and we are all witnesses to what he had achieved in that room. We have seen how he did it and the end result. At a point during that collation the whole Kano standstill, the kwankwasiyya followers were confused and lost all hopes, but with a less than 2 mins radio interview Dr Baffa gave everyone hope and blood pressures normalized, at the end he brought out the result of success to the Kano people and handed it over to Madugu in a kind of commando style at Miller road. The whole Kano celebrated using different styles, Dr Ab Baffa was celebrated as the Prince of Kano. He was called the Commander of Kwankwasiyya of the world. He was the Hero of everyone, especially the kwankwasiyya.

But I sometimes asked myself right from 2019 – 2023 Dr Ab Baffa has never rested on the issue of Kwankwaso and the kwankwasiyya movement, but now he is the enemy that must be eliminated or do away with. It is kind of laughable.
In just less than 2 years, he became the enemy, forgetting all the more than 5 years of limitless sacrifices to the movement and the image of Kwankwaso to make sure that it is in the right shape, yet today he is called names contrary to what he represents. It is really disheartening and intriguing. But it is said Time is an ultimate Judge.
