KSCHMA Conducts Accreditation Assessment at Armed Forces Specialist Hospital to Expand Access to Quality Healthcare Services

The Kano State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KSCHMA) has conducted an assessment visit to the Armed Forces Specialist Hospital (Gamji), Kano, as part of the accreditation process for its engagement as a healthcare service provider under KSCHMA programmes, including the flagship ABBACare Scheme.

The assessment team, led by the Director of Programmes, Dr. Jamila Mustapha, on behalf of the Executive Secretary of KSCHMA, Dr. Rahila Aliyu Muktar, was warmly received by the Commander of the Armed Forces Specialist Hospital, Brigadier General Augustine Abdu Omogbethai, a renowned colorectal specialist, alongside members of the hospital’s management team.

The visit followed a recent engagement between KSCHMA and the hospital’s leadership, during which the facility expressed its interest in joining the Agency’s growing network of accredited healthcare providers.

Speaking during the assessment, Dr. Jamila Mustapha reiterated KSCHMA’s commitment to ensuring that all healthcare facilities seeking accreditation meet the highest standards of quality service delivery, patient safety, and operational efficiency.

She noted that the assessment exercise is a critical component of the Agency’s quality assurance framework designed to guarantee that beneficiaries of ABBACare and other KSCHMA healthcare programmes receive accessible, affordable, and high-quality healthcare services.

The assessment team undertook a comprehensive inspection of the hospital’s clinical departments, healthcare infrastructure, medical equipment, human resources, pharmacy services, laboratory facilities, medical records systems, and other operational components essential for effective healthcare delivery.

In his remarks, Brigadier General Augustine Abdu Omogbethai expressed appreciation to KSCHMA for the visit and reaffirmed the hospital’s readiness to meet all accreditation requirements. He emphasized the hospital’s commitment to partnering with KSCHMA in delivering quality healthcare services to beneficiaries across the State.

He further highlighted the hospital’s capacity, skilled workforce, and specialized medical services, noting that the institution is well-positioned to support KSCHMA’s mission of improving health outcomes and expanding access to quality healthcare, particularly for vulnerable populations enrolled under the ABBACare Scheme.

The assessment underscores KSCHMA’s ongoing efforts to strengthen healthcare service delivery through strategic partnerships with reputable healthcare institutions, while advancing Kano State’s drive towards Universal Health Coverage.
