The Director General of the Kano State Primary Health Care Management Board (KSPHCMB), Professor Salisu Ahmad Ibrahim, has reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to improving routine immunization services across Kano State by leading a high-level Routine Immunization Leadership Stocktake Meeting at the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC), Nassarawa Hospital, Kano.
The meeting, supported by Acasus, brought together key health managers and stakeholders to review immunization performance, identify implementation challenges and develop practical strategies to enhance service delivery and expand vaccination coverage among eligible children.
Under the leadership of Professor Salisu, participants assessed progress in routine immunization activities, reviewed programme data and strengthened accountability mechanisms. Discussions focused on critical areas including fixed and outreach vaccination sessions, HPV vaccination, data quality, cold-chain functionality and effective utilization of BHCPF resources.
As part of efforts championed by the DG to improve immunization outcomes, stakeholders adopted key resolutions aimed at strengthening data management, enhancing supportive supervision, improving cold-chain maintenance, optimizing resource utilization and expanding outreach services. These measures are expected to accelerate the reach of life-saving vaccines to zero-dose and under-immunized children across the state.
Professor Salisu Ahmad Ibrahim emphasized the importance of collaboration among programme managers, local government health authorities and frontline health workers in implementing the agreed actions.
