The Kano State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KSCHMA), in collaboration with the Kano State House of Assembly Committee on Health, has taken a major step towards strengthening healthcare financing with the convening of a One-Day Technical Stakeholders’ Workshop on the Proposed KSCHMA Healthcare Financing Reforms in Kaduna.
The workshop, chaired by the Chairman of the House Committee on Health, Hon. Zakariyya Alhassan Ishaq, brought together lawmakers, senior government officials, organized labour, healthcare professionals and technical experts to review reform proposals that will further strengthen the implementation of the Kano State Contributory Healthcare Scheme.
Declaring the workshop open, the Right Honourable Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Jibril Ismail Falgore who is represented by the Deputy Speaker Muhammad Bello Butu-Butu, reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to supporting legislative reforms that will enhance healthcare financing, improve accountability and guarantee quality healthcare services for the people of Kano State.
The Honourable Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf represented by the Permanent Secretary Pharm. Aminu Bashir, and the Head of Civil Service, Hajiya Bilkisu Shehu Maimota, also reiterated the State Government’s commitment to reforms that promote efficiency, transparency and sustainability within the health sector.
The workshop marks another milestone in the collaborative efforts of the Executive and Legislative arms of government to develop a stronger legal and operational framework for the Scheme.
Speaking at the workshop, the Executive Secretary of KSCHMA, Dr. Rahila Aliyu Muktar, expressed appreciation to the Kano State House of Assembly, stakeholders and development partners for their unwavering support, noting that the outcomes of the workshop will significantly strengthen healthcare financing and improve access to quality healthcare across Kano State.
The initiative aligns with the Kano First Agenda of His Excellency, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, aimed at delivering accessible, affordable and sustainable healthcare services to all residents.
