Governor Malam Umar Namadi received the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal University Dutse, alongside other members of the council, who paid him a courtesy visit at the Government House, Dutse. The visit, which also included the Vice-Chancellor and members of the university’s management team, was aimed at strengthening the collaboration between the state government and the university.

Speaking on behalf of the university, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Professor Shuaib Oba Abdurraheem, expressed his gratitude to the government and people of Jigawa State for their support since the establishment of the Federal University Dutse over a decade ago.

“It is our special pleasure to appreciate the government and people of Jigawa State, who have been very supportive of the university’s growth and development. Over the years, the university has thrived, and this success has been a direct result of the collaborative efforts between the state and the institution. We are grateful for this support and look forward to strengthening this relationship,” Professor Shuaib stated.

He also extended condolences on behalf of the Governing Council for the recent flood disaster in the state, offering prayers for the victims and wishing the state a swift recovery from the natural calamity.

“We pray Almighty Allah provides succor to all those who have suffered losses and grants peace to the souls of the departed. We stand in solidarity with the people of Jigawa State during these challenging times.”

In his response, Governor Umar Namadi commended the university for its contributions to education and the social fabric of the state, restating his administration’s commitment to supporting the institution.

“On behalf of the people and government of Jigawa State, I want to thank the Governing Council for this visit and for your dedication to the university’s mission. Education is a cornerstone of our society, and we are proud to have Federal University Dutse as a partner in this noble endeavor,” he said.

Governor Namadi further highlighted the state’s proactive approach to supporting education, including a 100% increase in scholarships for Jigawa State students.

“When universities increased their fees unexpectedly, we acted swiftly, spending over 700 million naira to ensure that no student from Jigawa State was left behind. Our government remains committed to advancing education, and we will continue to collaborate with the university to achieve this goal.”

He praised the Pro-Chancellor’s leadership, stating that his appointment and the caliber of the new council members bode well for the institution’s future.

“We are confident that under this governing council, the Federal University Dutse will reach new heights. Your experience in both university administration and public service assures us of your dedication to making significant improvements.”
