The zonal Director of Sheik Muhammad Jidda General Hospital Dr Fatima Ibrahim (PT) has reassured the public that the Hospital will be upgraded and revived to a standard 5 Star Health facility.
Dr Fatima who is the 1st physiotherapist to hold the rank of Zonal Director in the state and Nigeria as well assumed office on the 16th of May 2024 meeting the facility in a dilapidated state. Part of the challenges she meet where a dilapidated building with leaking roofs in almost all the wards, bare ward windows without netting, poor power supply.
She further explained that, there were no essential specialties such as O&G, dermatology, maternity complex and paediatrics, no digital X-ray machine in the facility. ” The facility is in the middle of Kano with a lot of patient turnout, we will need to upgrade so as to cater for more”.
The 1st point of call the zonal Director made was to facilitate the repairs of leaking roofs, provision of window nets in all admission wards by a philanthropist. She further secured solarization for A&E, lab equipments and pharmacy items through the khetfund intervention.
Similarly, Dr Fatima has reactivated the O&G clinic, boosting the facility’s revenue generation as well as curtailing fraud in the facility and also ensuring availability of drugs and stressing the government’s free maternity service in the Hospital.
Furthermore, Dr Fatima stressed that her target for the facility is to upgrade it to a specialist Hospital in order to relieve the 2 state specialist Hospitals some burden, facilitate the general renovation of the facility, seclude the hospital from other MDA’s present in the premises as well as securing more intervention from Khetfund.
The Zonal Director, used the opportunity to express her gratitude to His Excellency the Executive Governor of Kano State Alh Abba Kabir Yusuf for his timely intervention in the Health sector. She also thanked the Hon commissioner Kano State Ministry of Health Dr Abubakar Labaran yusuf and the Executive Secretary kano State Hospitals Management Board Dr Mansur Mudi Nagoda for giving her support and free hand to give her own quota in the health sector. She added that, the facility is also grateful to the Executive Secretary Khetfund Dr Fatima Zahraddeen for responding to their calls and intervention.
