The Chancellor of the Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology(ADUSTECH), Wudil, Kano State, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, has pledged to construct three additional students’ hostel blocks and a
befitting Senate Building for the university.
A statement by the university’s Vice Chancellor, Prof.Musa Tukur Yakasai, said Dangote also promised to construct 10 senior academic staff accommodation for the institution,as well as upgrade its water plant to address its water supply problems.
The statement said the chancellor made the pledges when the Principal Officers of the university under the leadership of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Musa Tukur Yakasai, paid him a courtesy visit in his office in Lagos on Wednesday.
It said the entourage was accompanied by the Kano State Commissioner for Higher Education, Dr Yusuf Ibrahim Kofar Mata.
It also disclosed that Dangote pledged to facilitate the conduct of the university’s 5th Convocation Ceremony, provide official vehicles to Principal Officers of the university as well as intervene in providing a sustainable solution to the university’s providing a sustainable solution to the university’s electricity supply problem.
“The visit became imperative in order to show appreciation to the Chancellor for his intervention in paying the sum of N100 million upfront as part of
KEDCO electricity Bill.
“The payment was made through the Aliko Dangote Foundation, which facilitated the immediate reconnection of the University with electricity supply.
“Furthermore, the courtesy visit served as an opportunity to introduce the new management team of the University that assumed office last year.
“In the course of the visit, the University management presented to the Chancellor some pressing issues facing the university, In the light of which the Chancellor made the additional pledges.
“The University Management, on behalf of the State Government, the entire University Community and the good people of Kano State highly appreciate the Chancellor, Alhaji (Dr) Aliko Dangote GCON, the president of the Dangote Group for this landmark intervention.
We sincerely pray to Allah to reward the chancellor most abundantly,” the vice chancellor said.
