Following the approval of his Excellency, Zamfara State Executive Governor Hon Dr. Bello Mohammed MON (Matawallen Maradun) to refund 646.4 Million Naira pension deduction fund to 13683 State civil servants, the state government has commenced the payment of the refunds.
The pension payments is being made through the office of the Head of Service under the State and local government contributory pension scheme which empowers the Head of Service to pay both State and local governments staff.
The office of the Head of Service has commenced the payment of all 14 local government primary School teachers as approved by the State Executive Governor.
Those to benefit include 12,044 serving staff, 1450 Retired and 189 deceased persons.
Families of the deceased are expected to come along with court clearance and all relevant documents that have the full information of the deceased to the State primary education board before the office of the Head of Service can effect payment.
However, Governor Bello Matawalle has also directed that all payments to the beneficiaries will be made through their bank accounts or their next of kin.
It could be recalled that pension administration has been employed to manage the pension fund of the State civil servants but following some discovered anomalies, the present administration of Governor Matawalle decided to retrieve the fund and give back to the owners.
The Governor also assured of the state Government willingness to improve the welfare of the State civil servants and urged them to be more dedicated to their duties for his administration to succeed.
He described the civil servants as the most integral part of any government policy implementors.
Matawalle also promised to continue to work hand in hand with the State civil servants.
