FOMWAN Advocates for Maternal Health During Courtesy Visit to KSCHMA

The Kano State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KSCHMA) received a delegation from the Federation of Muslim Women’s Associations in Nigeria (FOMWAN), Kano State Chapter, led by the State Amirah, Hajiya Habiba Abubakar Mijinyawa, on an advocacy visit focused on maternal health.

In her remarks, the Amirah commended KSCHMA for expanding access to affordable healthcare and highlighted FOMWAN’s activities, including da’awah, women empowerment, education, community service, and health advocacy. She emphasized the importance of accountability and community involvement in reducing maternal mortality and pledged FOMWAN’s support for KSCHMA through grassroots sensitization and mobilization.

She further applauded the Executive Secretary, Dr. Rahila Aliyu Muktar, for her dedication in responding to health issues and her leadership in strengthening healthcare delivery across the state.

Responding, Dr. Rahila Aliyu Muktar expressed excitement and appreciation for the visit, describing it as timely and impactful. She highlighted KSCHMA’s achievements under the Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF) scheme, including expanded enrollment, improved access to maternal and child healthcare services, and successful verification exercises. She reaffirmed the Agency’s commitment to providing quality and affordable healthcare services for the people of Kano State.

The Executive Secretary also announced that KSCHMA will provide training for FOMWAN members on the KSCHMA scheme to complement their sensitization efforts and strengthen maternal and child health advocacy. She reiterated the Agency’s commitment to deepen collaboration with civil society and faith-based groups to improve health outcomes, particularly in underserved communities.

The visit concluded with both KSCHMA and FOMWAN reaffirming their shared vision to advance maternal health, strengthen accountability, and promote community participation in reducing maternal mortality across Kano State.
