GOVERNOR MATAWALLE SIGNS MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING ON SECURITY WITH GOVERNORS OF KATSINA, SOKOTO AND MARADI.

His Excellency,Zamfara State Executive Governor,Hon Dr. Bello Mohammed MON (Matawallen Maradun) today, Signed a memorandum of understanding on security with the governors of Katsina, Sokoto and Maradi in Niger Republic.

The signing of MOU was held at Maradi Government House after a joint meeting of the governors of Maradi Region in Niger Republic and those of Zamfara, Katsina and Sokoto on security situation in the transborder areas of Niger Republic and Nigeria.

The bilateral meeting was organized by the Governor of Maradi Region in Niger Republic Mallam Zakari Umaru in order to maintained good neighborliness and cooperation among the signitories from the two countries.

The MOU agreed to uphold the renewed efforts of the three States of Nigeria in curbing the menace of armed banditry within the borders of the states.

Other areas covered include the total resolve to joined hands in the fight against banditry, cattle rustling, kidnapping and armed robbery within the affected borders for the purpose of having peaceful States.

The MoU also agreed to form technical committees that will come up with a frame work and modalities on how to sustain the peace process adopted by the states among other resolution.

Earlier in his speech during the bilateral meeting, Governor Matawalle described peace, dialogue and reconciliation as the necessary tools of curbing insecurity situation in four States.

He explained that his administration introduced and adopted dialogue with the bandits after very wide consultations and later created contacts which led to a joint meeting with all the warring groups.

The governor further said that the peace process has yielded positive results as peace has returned in the state.

The Governor attended the meeting with all the Heads of Security agencies in the state comprising the army, police,Civil Defence Corps and the Department of State Security (DSS).

The Governors of Katsina and Sokoto, Rt.Hon.Aminu Bello Masari and Rt.Hon.Aminu Waziri Tambuwal also led similar delegations from their respective states to the meeting.
