His Excellency, Zamfara State Executive Governor Hon Dr. Bello Mohammed MON (Matawallen Maradun) has said that his administration will soon reintroduce the Teachers College system of education across the state with a view of having professional and qualified teachers in the state.
The Governor made this known yesterday in a meeting with the 14 local government Council chairmen of the State which held at the state Governor’s lodge, Kaduna.
The Governor said he is determined to revive the quality of the state’s teachers and teaching through the reintroduction of the teachers training colleges that were scrapped.
He added that when the teachers’ quality is improved, the required academic standards will be achieved as the teachers colleges are the only schools established with the sole objective of training teachers in the country which played tremendous role in shaping the academic pursuits of Nigerians in the past.
Governor Matawalle further said that a pilot Comprehensive Secondary School will be constructed in each of the senatorial district of the state that will be financed by the state and the local government Councils.
Matawalle also disclosed that his administration is looking at the possibility of buying off the Bafarawa Institute in Shinkafi for utilisation under the state University where some departments will be located in Shinkafi town.
The meeting was attended by the Governor’s Principal Private Secretary, Alhaji Abubakar Jaafar Maradun, Permanent Secretary Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Muhammadu Mustapha and the 14 Local Government Councils chairmen under the leadership of the ALGON Chairman, Muhammad Umar Birnin Magaji among others.
