The Kano Road And Traffic Agency (KAROTA) has been commended on its efforts to get rid of congestion alongside Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital (MMSH).
The commendation came from the Director General of Hospitals Management Board, Dr. Nasiru Alhassan Kabo while expressing his overview on the exercise embarked upon by the agency.
The Director General noted with satisfaction that the splendid action taken by KAROTA is indeed a welcome development in view of the fact that congesting hospital roadsides by commercial motorists and petty traders brings about environmental and noise pollution.
“Basically, hospitals, at all times, need substantive and sufficient quietness as noise pollutes the atmosphere with fumes oozing from commercial vehicles conveying passengers alongside. On this note, let me, on behalf of the Hospitals Management Board, extend my gratitude to the Managing Director of KAROTA, Hon. (Dr.) Baffa Babba Dan Agundi for salvaging the hospital roadside against unlawful practices that may further cause havoc onto the health condition of the patients. Weldone! Keep up with the good work,” Dr. Kabo stated.
He went further to say that another advantage of the action taken by the KAROTA is that allowing food and other eateries vendors selling out their uncovered commodities is hazardous to health, lamenting that flies and other disease transmitting insects may contaminate such eateries and thereafter take to the patients in the hospital.
The Director General then solicited KAROTA to extend similar action to other hospitals especially in the metropolis so that the effort of health friendly Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of ensuring quality health service delivery to the required standards becomes achievable.
Dr. Kabo, then, called on people in the state to give maximum support to KAROTA on this laudable effort it is taking as it was taken with good intention, stressing that “It has not been taken to deprive anybodys right of sustenance, rather it aims at improving health condition of people. Some few days back, I have watched in the television some commuters along Rimi market commending the Ganduje administration and KAROTA for taking them back to their initial motor-park. This has absolutely gladdened my heart because, I believe, such people have started witnessing the positive impact of the exercise.”
