GOV. NAMADI KICKS OFF CITIZEN ENGAGEMENT PROGRAMME IN AUYO LGA

Governor Mallam Umar Namadi, on Sunday, launched the commencement of the Jigawa State Government Citizen Engagement Programme, tagged “Gwamnati da Jama’a” in Auyo Local Government Area.

The event marked a groundbreaking initiative where elected officials and government representatives provided comprehensive updates to the electorate about their achievements and ongoing efforts to deliver people-centered and developmental projects within the local government.

The program aimed to strengthen transparency, accountability, and dialogue between the government and the citizens it serves.

High-ranking officials took turns presenting their respective ministries’ and offices’ accomplishments to the public. The key presenters included commissioners from various state ministries; heads of parastatals; the senator representing the Jigawa Northeast Senatorial District; the member of the House of Representatives for the Hadejia/Kafin-Hausa/Auyo Constituency; the State House of Assembly representative for the Auyo Local Government; and the chairman of the Auyo Local Government and the governor himself.

Each official detailed their progress on projects and initiatives relevant to Auyo Local Government, showcasing the government’s commitment to developmental goals. The presentations sparked lively engagement, with members of the community posing questions and seeking clarifications on specific projects and issues affecting their locality.

People in the community were allowed to ask questions and share their thoughts and received answers and clarifications from top government officials.

Representatives from various groups—including traders, transport workers, and community leaders—spoke about the needs of their communities. Many expressed appreciation for the government’s work so far.

Speaking at the event, Governor Namadi said the programme is meant to keep citizens informed and involved.

“We want to talk to the people, tell them what the government is doing, and listen to their concerns. This is an idea we discussed and agreed on because we believe in staying connected with the people at the grassroots,” he said.

Encouraged by the positive response from the people at the event, the governor said, “From what we have seen today, APC has strong support at the grassroots. People appreciate what we are doing, and that motivates us to work even harder for them.”

This interactive platform has been hailed as both exciting and enlightening by attendees, setting a new standard for government-citizen engagement in the state.

The Gwamnati da Jama’a program will take place in all 27 local government areas of the state, with three local governments to be visited every month, with the goal of completing the entire state by October 2025. The program aims to ensure widespread participation and a consistent flow of information across the state.
