NGO TRAINS AND SUPPORT 50 RURAL WOMEN FROM 5 LGAs IN KANO

The event which took place on Sunday, 13th November 2022 at Abdullahi Garko Hall, Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, Kano, started with a remark by the project manager, Save a Life Cancer Awareness & Support Network (SALCASUN) Hajiya Rahana Adamu Kakudi, she mentioned that they are collaborating with Trust Africa, an NGO which normally works on Democracy and Civil Society based equitable development and Africa philanthropy; so they are funding projects that are specifically for Africa in order to create solutions. Kakudi added that the purpose of this vocational training is to women to be self-reliant and promotes economic empowerment in rural areas.

Hajiya Saratu Maigida the Executive Director Lifeline Initiative for Widow’s Empowerment and Economic Development being the facilitator of the training lead the participants through Liquid Soap Making, Petroleum Jelly making and making of Mentholatum. She however, urged the participants to be very attentive and learn all the processes step by step because if somebody misses a single process, then the product will not come out successful. Hajiya Saratu finally calls on the participant to pass the training down when they return back to their villages.

A participant, Zahra’u Yusha’u from Wudil LGA. appreciates the organisers of the training Save a Life Cancer Awareness & Support Network (SALCASUN) in collaboration with Trust Africa for a wonderful program Zahra’u also thanked Allah (SWT) for making her one of the beneficiaries of the training, she promises to make good use of the training for her self-reliance. Equally, another participant from Rogo LGA Rumasa’u Umar expresses her excitement in the new skills she acquire through this training she also congratulates Save a Life Cancer Awareness & Support Network (SALCASUN) for a successful program and urged her fellow participants to make good use of the knowledge they acquire and support their families.

In her address, the founder of Save a life Cancer Awareness & Support Network (SALCASUN) Hajiya Hauwa Kakudi mentioned about how they came to being, as well as some of the fast activities they had with regards to creating awareness on breast and cervical cancer, she added that this programme is being sponsored by Trust Africa for a 6 month period, she mentioned that they choose to train the women on Liquid Soap Making, Petroleum Jelly making and making of Mentholatum being among the simple skills that can be taught and practice easily in the rural areas. Kakudi concluded each of the participant will be given palliatives also sponsored by Trust Africa to alleviate sufferings. Finally she prays for safe return back home to all the participants.
