Adieu Dr Ezenwa

I am heartbroken and depressed to learn that Dr Lawrence Ezenwa of defunct SURE-P was gunned down in Anambra on Thursday.

A prominent Nigerian public servant, medical doctor, Lawrence Ezenwa, was killed in Nnewi South Local Govt Area of Anambra. He owned hospitals in Okija, Onitsha and Okpanam in Delta State. Dr Ezenwa is from Abia State.”

“Dr Ezenwa was visiting his wife’s village, Ukpo in Nnewi South, when he was murdered. His driver was also shot and killed”

I worked closely under him during the subsidy reinvestment program (SURE-P) as one of the consultants to improve on the maternal and child health indices in the country. He was the project lead Maternal and Child Health of the program. Sure-P under Dr Ezenwa traversed the length and corners of all parts of Nigeria working with rural health personel to train Traditional Birth Attendants, Community Health Extension Workers (CHEW) and Midwives in selected wards across the 774 LGAs thereby helping to reduce maternal mortalities and infant morbidities in the country.

Dr Ezenwa was a very peaceful, Kind-hearted, jovial and detribalised person. What has Dr Ezenwa got to do with IPOB’s agitation to deserve this cruel treatment?

This senseless, unwarranted killings of innocent personalities must be put to stop.

May his soul RIP
