His Excellency, Zamfara State Executive Governor Hon Dr. Bello Mohammed MON (Matawallen Maradun) has called on traditional rulers in the Northern region of the country to assist the government in restoring the lost glory of the region.
Governor Matawalle made the call today when he paid courtesy on the Emir of Katagum, Alhaji Umar Faruk at his palace in Azare, Bauchi state.
Matawalle said, traditional rulers are the custodians of all norms and values of the region which call for their total contribution in restoring the lost glories of peace, unity and understanding among the people of the region.
The Governor added that the role played by the traditional rulers in the past contributed immensely in the peace and development that were enjoyed in the region.
He therefore emphasized the need for traditional rulers to support Government at all levels in the fight against all forms of criminal activities for the purpose of having a developed region that is free from all forms of criminality.
Governor Matawalle further said that if traditional rulers joined hands with governments more development will be achieved within a short period of time.
He also thanked the monarch for the warm reception accorded him and his entourage.
Responding Emir of Katagum, Alhaji Umar Farouk thanked the Governor for the visit and assured to make the governor’s calls top on his priority list.
He pointed out that peace remains the only option for attaining meaningful development.
The Emir also commended the Governors for restoring peace in Zamfara State within the short period of his administration through the dialogue process.
