GOVERNOR BELLO MATAWALLE ATTENDS THE NATIONAL ECONOMIC COUNCIL. MEETING

His Excellency, Zamfara State Executive Governor Hon Dr. Bello Mohammed MON (Matawallen Maradun) has attended the National economic Council meeting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja today 19th September, 2019.

The meeting was chaired by the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo and was attended by the 36 State Governors and Ministers of Agriculture, State Finance, Budget and National Planning, Trade and Investment and that of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

The meeting received an update on the National Livestock Transformation Plan by the Governor of Ebonyi State Chief David Umahi and resolved to commence the pilot programme in Seven States.

The pilot states include, Zamfara, Benue,Taraba, Kaduna, Plateau, Katsina and Gombe although other State Governments have appealed for inclusion into the programme.

The adoption of the seven states was as a result of the Security situation bedeviling the states especially that of herders and farmers crisis which was why they were selected for the implementation of the National Livestock Transformation Plan.

Other issues deliberated include the presentation on the ease of doing business in the country as the council appreciates federal Government efforts but called on states to create ways of easing ways of doing business in their respective areas for the benefit of creating enabling environment for economic development.

Making his contribution during the meeting Zamfara State Governor, Bello Matawalle highlighted the importance of National Livestock Transformation Plan in improving the living standards of the rural dwellers which he also stressed will enhance the Security situation.

He added that if the Plan is well executed, it will contribute to having lasting solutions on the Security situation bedeviling some parts of the country.

Governor Matawalle also applauded president Muhammadu Buhari administration’s foresight of coming up with a positive plan that will end the Security challenges facing the country especially that of herders and farmers.

He assured of his administration’s determination to work hand in hand with the federal government in that direction as he has already flagged off the construction of three modern Ruga settlements in the State.

Other reports presented to the National economic Council include reports on Excess Crude Account ( ECA),update on the current Balance of the Stabilization Fund account and update on the recurrent Balance of Natural Resources Development fund.

The remaining reports are on Budget support loan Facility and update from the NEC Ad-hoc committee on Crude oil Theft, Prevention and Control.

During the meeting the Governor of Zamfara was accompanied by the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, Alhaji Kabiru Mohammed Gayari.
