It is really a very sad moment for the people of the Plateau and the country at a large. As the revelation continue to unfold about the recently discovered, what is now called the Pond of Death, which really shocked and is still shaking the very fabric of our existence as a people. So far according to the available report, 13 cars including an 18-seater bus, 6 bikes, 18 human bodies have been discovered from this seemingly dangerous Pond and still counting.
The genesis of this current discovery is when a recently retired General of the Nigerian army was reported missing on his way to Bauchi passing through that route. The report raised alarm and the search began and here we are faced with a seriously shocking revelations which will really play a vital role and may be a very disturbing scenario of changing the shape of a fragile relationship. It may change the perception of the way many events that happened will be seen.
The cars that have so far been discovered are being identified and some theories are being established which if they are proven beyond doubt, I am very certain many relationships with long time neighbors will be reviewed negatively, in some cases the relationship may be severed completely. For long there was a kind of distrust among the  different tribes and religious followers in the Plateau, but it became so bad during the last regime of Governor Jonah Jang of the Birom tribe of Jos. This man when he was the Governor of Plateau state he assisted greatly in further straining the fragile relationship between his people and especially the Hausa-muslims community living in Jos and it was that amber of hatred that spilled over to the innocent muslims passers-by along the Birom villages more especially during crisis.
Many innocent people were suspected to be maimed and killed along those routes, hundreds cases of missing persons were reported and recorded. Now with this shocking discovery it seems the mystery is about to be unravel even though it may be too shocking and weighty for a common sense to take.
The irony of these discovery is the seemingly very disturbing SILENCE OF THE VARIOUS GROUPS THAT USUALLY MAKE NOISE AT THE SLIGHTEST OF HAPPENING ESPECIALLY WHEN IT HAPPENED TO OUR CHRISTIAN BROTHERS OR WHEN IT IS CARRIED OUT BY MUSLIMS. This is really very sad and painful to even think about, but unfortunately it is the bare truth.
Why is CAN silence about this heinous crime to the humanity? Is it because it is committed by their people on the side? Are they telling us that their association does not stand for justice? Or their justice is when one of them is involved even if he or she is at fault? How do they reconcile these despicable crimes with their inner self?
Where are our media people that are always eager to report a case since before it becomes a news? Is this discovery not news on it’s own? Or they are telling us that it cannot sell because it is stale news?
Where are those shouting human rights activists in our various media outlets and social media? What are they waiting for? Or may be this time they want to start talking about it after the conclusion of the investigation? Where are those put-together human rights groups like the BBOG and my mumu don do? Are they no longer interested in shouting this out?
You see it is really sad and annoying when some sets of individuals decided to keep shouting for one side and keep quiet for the side on the same type of issue and may be even worse. It is really so sad. But remember, History is always on the side of the truth even when it is distorted, it will definitely put itself together and reveal itself.

May those involved in this barbaric crime be uprooted and be punished severely and accordingly.

Let the digging continue, these criminals among us must be fished out to face the rath of what they do.
