KSCHMA Tops National BHCPF Enrolment Table, Emerges Nigeria’s Best-Performing State

The Kano State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KSCHMA) has achieved another remarkable national milestone as Kano State emerged the highest-performing state in Nigeria under the Basic Healthcare Provision Fund (BHCPF) Gateway enrolment for the first quarter of 2026.

According to the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) BHCPF Gateway Q1 2026 Enrolment Report, Kano recorded 327,410 enrolled beneficiaries, significantly surpassing its expected target of 216,775 and ranking first among all states of the Federation.

This outstanding achievement reflects the unwavering commitment of the Kano State Government, under the visionary leadership of His Excellency, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, to ensuring that vulnerable and underserved populations have access to affordable, quality healthcare through sustainable health contributory coverage.

The achievement is also a testament to the strategic leadership of the Executive Secretary of KSCHMA, Dr. Rahila Aliyu Muktar, whose innovative reforms, aggressive community mobilisation, stakeholder engagement, and expansion of health contributory coverage have continued to position Kano as a national leader in healthcare financing and Universal Health Coverage.

The remarkable performance further demonstrates the effectiveness of KSCHMA’s people-centred policies, strategic partnerships, and data-driven implementation approach. It underscores the Agency’s growing capacity to translate government policies into measurable health outcomes, while reinforcing Kano State’s position as a national model for expanding equitable access to quality healthcare through the Basic Healthcare Provision Fund.

KSCHMA expresses profound appreciation to the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), the Federal Ministry of Health, healthcare providers, development partners, traditional and religious leaders, community-based organisations, and all stakeholders whose unwavering support and collaboration have contributed immensely to this landmark achievement.

The Agency remains committed to consolidating these gains by expanding enrolment, strengthening service delivery, improving healthcare quality, and ensuring that every resident of Kano State has access to equitable, affordable, and quality healthcare services.

KSCHMA Cares: One Voice, One Health, One Future.
