GOVERNOR MATAWALLE BAGS AWARD OF EXCELLENCE FOR IMPROVING SECURITY IN ZAMFARA STATE.

His Excellency, Zamfara State Executive Governor, Hon Dr. Bello Mohammed MON (Matawallen Maradun) today 24th August, 2019 received an award of excellence from the International Institute of Professional Security (IIP) for improving the Security of lives and properties of citizens in Zamfara

The award ceremony was held at the Nicon Luxury Hotel, Abuja and the Governor was represented by the Zamfara State Head of Service, Alhaji Kabiru Balarabe (Sardaunan Dan-Isa)

The award was presented to the Governor by the former Minister of State for foreign affairs, Ambassador Bagudu Herise said the institute has justified the nomination and the award given to the Governor because it is a well known fact Nationally and beyond that Governor Matawalle has restored Peace in the State.

In his speech the Director General of the Institute, Barr Tony M.Ofoyetan said the award of excellence to Zamfara State Governor is to encourage him and his Government in the daily efforts of maintaining peace in Zamfara State and Nigeria at large.

Delivering his acceptance speech, Governor Bello Matawalle thanked the Institute and its governing council for recognizing his administration’s efforts in addressing the security challenges that faced the State and conferred him with a special award of excellence assuring to remain committed to finding enduring peace and security in Zamfara State and Nigeria as a whole.

He dedicated the award to all the people that suffered from the banditry activities and the heroes that lost their lives.

Governor Matawalle has since his assumption as the Executive Governor of Zamfara met most of the rural areas of the state as the epic centers of gruesome attacks by bandits, kidnappers, arsonists and a host of other crimes.

Matawalle said these necessitated him to explore workable means to address the challenges which culminated into dialogue and reconciliation.

The effort resolved the long standing crisis between the communities and restored peace while many bandits repented, laid down their arms and released hundreds of captives under their control unconditionally.

He further informed the gathering that for two months now, no attack by bandits is recorded in the State.

He further said that the next stage of the peace process is that of disarmament which would start very soon.

The governor added that alot of lessons have been learnt that Security challenges could be tackled through community engagement, honest and sincere dialogue, and taking practical steps to sustain peace efforts.

The Governor’s representative Alh Kabiru Balarabe was accompanied by the Governor’s Principal Private Secretary, Alhaji Abubakar Jaafar Maradun, Director General Protocol Matters, Alhaji Kabiru Yusuf and the Director General Press Affairs, Malam Yusuf Idris Gusau among others.
